Community-Based Ocean Observations to Power the Blue Economy
Community-based ocean instrumentation initiatives have proven to be a valuable tool for supporting the local blue economy. These programs use real-time ocean observation data to provide live, accurate information about wave and weather conditions, fish and marine mammal activity, and energy from wave energy converters. This information is critical for supporting local decision-making around issues like maritime safety, fishing expeditions, and extreme weather events. The panel discussion will feature experts in community-based ocean instrumentation programs.
